Snickerdoodles

Here is the recipe for the world famous "Snickerdoodles."

Mix thoroughly:

  • 1 cup soft shortening (part butter)
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs

Sift & stir in:

  • 2 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  1. Roll into balls (size of walnuts) and into mixture of 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon On ungreased pan
  2. Put 2" apart and cook till lightly browned
  3. 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Makes about 5 dozen.
